The Ladies of Lorenzo's
Chef Michele Gaw:
Chef Michele is a graduate of Tiffin College with degrees in Business and Food Service Management.
Her passion for the hospitality industry has lead her such varied posts as hotel chef, private
catering, being Executive Chef at the Watermark Restaurant in the Cleveland Flats. Chef Michele then
turned her passion into action by accepting a teaching post at Tri-C where she could use her vast
experience to groom the food service professionals of tomorrow. Chef Michele and Chef Cheryl Kloscak
will be leading the 1st Annual Cooks Tour of Cleveland sponsored by Lorenzo's in September. Having
worked in the city for so many years, participants will get a "chef's-eye view" of the best purveyors
and suppliers of the culinary arts available. Lorenzo's is very excited to have Chef Michele with
us this season and the opportunity to learn and taste from her amazing collection of skills and recipes. Welcome Michele!
Chef Cheryl Kloscak:
Chef Cheryl had always dreamed of becoming a chef. As wife and mother she deferred this dream until
her last child was ready for college. She enrolled in the Cuyahoga County Community College Professional
Chef Program and found her new calling. Cheryl owns her own catering firm, CIA: Your Chef In Attendance
and specializes in creating unique private dinner parties in the host's home. Lorenzo's is excited to
bring this talented woman to Lakeside! We look forward to learning from her innovative and creative courses. Welcome Cheryl!
Chef Larkin Rogers:
Chef Larkin Rogers is an honors graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). While there
she won a scholarship which allowed her to train in Europe. She spent time cooking and learning in
Germany, France and England. Upon graduation, Larkin returned to England and won national recognition
for her cuisine featuring locally grown ingredients in the Elizabethan village of Nayland, Suffolk
at Martha's Vineyard Restaurant. It is our good fortune that Larkin has returned to the states
and is now Executive Chef at the Cuyahoga National Forest Association. We are especially interested in the dinner
class Larkin will offer at Lorenzo's on how to best use our wonderful local fish. Welcome Larkin!
Home Chef Cynthia O'Connor:
Some of you may recognize Cynthia as the Culinary Tour Coordinator for Lorenzo's. She is also
an accomplished home chef. Cynthia specializes in cooking for persons with health concerns and will
bring her expertise to classes that feature great flavors but are low in salt, cholesterol and fat.
Of Eastern European and British heritage, Cynthia has learned from both sides of her family the art
of food preservation and will be teaching a jam class and basic canning class this summer at Lorenzo's.
She will be updating the website and keeping the calendar, so be sure to look at the school's window
for "What's Cookin' at Lorenzo's" this summer. Welcome Cynthia!
Culinary Intern, Katie Ehret:
Culinary Intern Katie Ehret is currently a senior at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio,
majoring in corporate communications. She is the Culinary Intern for Lakeside this summer and
as such shares some of her time with Lorenzo's. Katie loves to travel and has plans to visit
Uganda next May for a service learning trip. Upon her graduation, Katie hopes to further her
culinary education by becoming a pastry chef. Katie's mother Cindy, father Jeff and sister
Heather live in Massillon, Ohio. Her favorite dessert is tiramisu. She is anxious for
Lorenzo's Opera Nights this season, having recently studied abroad in Italy. Could be
that her favorite dessert will have to appear on the menu! Welcome Katie!
